I ran crochet workshop and weekly crochet sessions at various locations around Sussex (in Brighton and the surrounds) for over 5 years. I found that crafting over a cup of tea and cake always makes the experience a whole lot more enjoyable. And the cafe environment provided a wonderful atmosphere for this.
I used to run a weekly sessions in Rottingdean at Open Art Cafe, Rottingdean on a Thursday, 10am - 12pm. This session still runs without me as the wonderful ladies that meet there still go to have some crochet fun and inspiration.
The sessions, I used to provide all the materials for participants to learn and practice (yarn, hooks, worksheets, patterns, needles, snips) as well as a plethora of notes and printed patterns. I also had kits available to purchase along with some lovely yarns.
In these sessions, I helped those who participate (ladies and/or gents) to learn how to crochet starting at the beginning: holding a hook, attaching the yarn, holding the yarn, and creating stitches, following a pattern, and making delightful items. During the week, I would email all those who attended with some more helpful tips, video links and the worksheets from the completed sessions.
